We assume that the decay rate is constant and proportional to inventory on hand. We provide  a complete analytical treatment of the model and optimization results on the policy parameters assuming a<br \/>\ncontinuous review system. We also examine the impact of perishability on replenishment and stocking decision.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #555\">Breve Bio<\/h4>\n<p>Mustafa \u00c7a\u011fr\u0131 G\u00fcrb\u00fcz is a professor at Zaragoza Logistics Center. He completed his PhD at the Department of Management Science at the University of Washington in July 2006. He earned his BS and MS degrees from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Bilkent University, Turkey in 1999 and 2001, respectively. Since September 2006, he has been with ZLC and served as the PhD Program Director for two years.<br \/>\nHis main research interests are inventory and supply chain management, optimizing distribution systems, contracts, and modeling operations systems. Prof. G\u00fcrb\u00fcz has been a consultant to Efes Pilsen Brewery (warehouse management project), AT&amp;T  wireless (developed a queuing model to minimize the waiting time for customers visiting stores and used as a decision support tool for work force scheduling), AREX (analysis of the competitive advantage of Spanish ports for the distribution of goods imported from Asia to Europe), and RENFE (application of revenue management practices for the high speed passenger trains in Spain). He has also led projects on measuring\/reducing carbon footprint, and postponement strategies to reduce inventory levels.<br \/>\nHe published in journals such as Management Science and Operations Research Letters.
